Our Purpose
The purpose of the FDLA is to:
- Bring together by association, communication, and organization, the Florida lawyers who devote a substantial amount of their professional time to handling litigated cases and who represent primarily defendants;
- Provide for the exchange of information, ideas, techniques of procedure, and court rulings related to handling litigation to enhance the knowledge and improve the skills of defense lawyers;
- Elevate the standards of trial practice in Florida and, in conjunction with similar associations in other areas, develop, establish, and secure court adoption of a high code of professional conduct;
- Support and work for the improvement of the adversary system of jurisprudence in our courts; and
- Promote improvements in the administration of justice and increase the quantity and quality of the service and contribution by legal professionals to the community, state, and nation.
